What Is This is operated by Nico Melian. The short version: the web tool does not require an account, does not store your photos, and does not track you beyond standard analytics.
Photos you upload: sent to the AI provider for identification and discarded immediately after the response is returned. We do not retain copies.
Usage analytics: we use Vercel Analytics and Google Analytics to count page views and identify popular categories. These tools collect anonymized data: country, device type, page path, referrer. No personally identifying information is collected by the web tool.
Contact emails: if you email us, we keep that correspondence so we can reply. Nothing more.
No account creation, no passwords, no payment information on the web tool. We do not sell or share data with third parties beyond the AI provider needed to fulfill identification requests.
Analytics tools set cookies to deduplicate visitors. You can block these in your browser without affecting functionality.
